This presentation demonstrated that there truly is an "art" to negotiations. Understanding that not everyone comes to the table honestly and with good intentions can probably be a pretty difficult lesson. I still struggle with understanding why a school district would want mediation and wouldn't just want to keep things moving. I see no point to being dishonest but understand that in traditional bargaining you don't want to give too much away too early.
I would have liked doing some simulation with critiques from Dr. Closen and Mr. Meehan. I think this would have solidified Mr. Meehan's points so that we remember it for true practice.
I think I also would have like to have finance prior to this class since I have been away from the budget piece for a while.
