It was great to finally see what teacher team #2 was coming to the table with for collective bargaining. As the note taker I'm realizing the listening skills that go into ensuring accurate note taking for all parties involved. As teacher team #2 outlined their wants and backed it up with reasons it was very hard not to respond with a way to "fix" it. It's important to continue that active listening and work on solutions later. We were able to T.A. quite a few things which makes both sides feel a sense of accomplishment, and encourages both sides to bargain further.
I appreciate Dr. Closen asking for our reactions and input regarding the mediation talk. I think a lot of us feel hands-on is the way to go, since this process usually happens every 3-4 years. It's not something I think you ever feel totally comfortable with, but bring learned experiences back to the table every time you complete a contract. I appreciate my classmates ideas, and enjoy hearing similar experiences with different solutions.
