The simulation on Sunday proved to be interesting and actually fun. It was interesting to see a variety of techniques being used by the participants. The groups with which I am involved were diligent yet reflective regarding needs vs wants. It was interesting to think about creating doubt in the minds of the other team with certain proposals etc. The exchanges were professional and well thought out. Being able to discuss with our teammates the proposals I felt was the most beneficial part of the process. Researching the proposal by looking at current contract language and looking for loopholes caused meaningful discussion. Also trying be sure repercussions of accepted ideas were carefully discussed was good for the group. An example of this was dissecting language that was ambiguous to the reader and trying to be sure by changing it we were not compromising something that had historical meaning for the union. I believe we made progress in TAing as many items as possible to show good faith.

Saturday's presentation was most intersting when we discussed IBB. I believe the process has much merit. I believe this due to having all ideas presented within parameters that all can live with. Using IBB all particpants are able to reveal their ideas in a safe environment. Utilizing this process participants are able to brainstorm together. It is a process that creates unity and equity. I continue to be suprised at some of the negative connotations that collective bargaining has to endure. It may be unique but the bargaining experiences in which I have been involved have been at times tense but also great learning and usually end with compromise and little "scar tissue". The stories and insights provided by the speaker were helpful in that I will be ready for different situations to occur.
