second class

After experiencing the initial simulation of ground rules, it was interesting to see how quickly we can be pulled into a fictional event. I enjoyed the first phase of it and look forward to more of it in the future. It is hard to have that many people grounded in education sitting at the table and only being able to have a couple of them talk during the mock negotiations. However, our group showed the importance of having only one talk as there ended up being some discrepencies when some said yes to a topic and others didn't. It ended up being a bargaining chip that could be used against them. I suppose that would end up being one of the biggest problems in real negotiations. I was also interested to hear the different schemes and signs that other negotiators have come up with for side bars and the such.
