Saturday was a productive day. We were able to get through a few presentations and the guest speaker was good to listen to. I was glad that he spent more time getting to questions that people had rather than just having a set agenda. I felt that the topics that people raised were beneficial and worthwhile.
Our bargaining session went pretty well. We were never extremely far away from each other during this entire process and that has made it easier. I suppose the reason why we were fairly close was because we often looked at parts of the contract as being easy to get rid of (on teachers side) because they seemed very different than any contract from people in our group. The one stand still we've had has been over the issue of the contract wording when it comes to reasonable class size. We offered a different way to word that, but the board wanted nothing to do with it and preferred to rid it from the contract all together. It really showed us the importance of the wording in the contract and we could only agree to disagree.
