Negotiation experiences are great and pull all information from books and lectures together. The hands on experiences help clarify this complicated procedure. Interactive collective bargaining activities find all individuals totally engaged during the process. I am learning so much from my team members and the other negotiating side. The levels of negotiation are phenomenal and I did not realize the meticulous dance that takes place. I am learning how to look at contracts through a different lens and make inferences on language. I enjoy the banter between the two lead spokes persons within our teams. Is this how negotiations look and feel during a real negotiation? I would like to sit and observe negotiations in the real world and see the dynamics that play out.
It is hard not to jump into the conversations when things are not said exactly how you think they should or if you have ideas you want presented. It is frustrating when a counter-offer is made, which appears from your perspective to be a genuine effort to come to an agreement and the other side does not see your perspective as viable.
It is easy to see how people can start picking on the other side and little comments are made-even in jest. It is occurring within our teams. These all play into the dynamics of negotiation.
Interesting and enjoyable day!
